Reid
Forced To Sit Out British Championship Opener
Whiteway
Barton race circuit near Kingsteignton in Devon was the venue
for the opening round of the 2008 ACU British MMX Quad Championship
on Sunday the 6th of April. Having had promising results on the
almost standard Can Am DS450 on it’s first two outings at
the QRA Margate Beach race and Ulster Premier Quad Championship,
Team Can Am rider Justin Reid was hoping for similar results at
the opening round of the British series, but unfortunately for
Justin and the team they would have to postpone their maiden British
Championship appearance.

Following
the onset of flu like symptoms on Easter Monday just twelve days
prior to the event, Justin bravely battled through the opening
Ulster round the following day with some fantastic results including
an epic closing race win, but this effort had taken it’s
toll and Justin was confined to bed for the remainder of the week.
A trip to his local doctor for blood tests followed by an overnight
stay in hospital just one week before the race meeting did not
yield the cause of the illness, and on further medical consultation
later in the week, the difficult and unfortunate decision was
taken not to make the long trip to Devon.
This
has been a really disappointing start to Justin’s 2008 British
Championship campaign, Justin and Team Can Am having worked really
hard in the off season in preparation for the season ahead, but
spurred on by his fantastic results in the previous two outings,
Justin has his attention now firmly focused on the second round
of the series on Saturday the 26th of April, the fantastic GP
circuit at Desertmartin a technical and demanding track which
will suit Justin and the Team Can Am DS450.
Reid
‘It
was tough, making this call but really, I didn’t have much
choice. It is certainly a disappointing way to start the season
but it’s not long now until the second round at Desertmartin
so I’m looking forward to it and hopefully a good day at
my home round of the series.’
